Houses of Parliament

An exciting trip into the heart of London where we start at the stunning Marriott County Hall Hotel. Originally used as a seat of government, the Marriott has been lovingly restored keeping its beautiful architecture - from the towering bronze doors to the polished marbled floors.  The hotel boasts magnificent views of Big Ben and the Thames. Here we will enjoy lunch with wine in the County Hall restaurant followed by a guided tour of The Houses of Parliament.

The Houses of Parliament, also known as The Palace of Westminster, is not only the current home of the UK Parliament, it is also a royal palace and former residence of great kings.

This impressive Gothic Palace was built in the late 19th century by Sir Charles Barry to replace the original ancient buildings, which were almost completely destroyed by fire in 1834.  

The layout of the Palace is intricate, with its existing buildings containing nearly 1,200 rooms, 100 staircases and well over 3 kilometres (2 miles) of passages. The Palace comprises many famous sites including the green-coloured House of Commons Chamber and the red-coloured House of Lords Chamber where all political decisions are made to this day. It also includes the famous Clock Tower Big Ben and the Queens Robing Room.
